Thieves broke into a local rock-climbing gym Saturday, but it is open for business today.
Someone cut their way into the Grand Avenue business sometime overnight during the storm, said Johnathon Matt, the owner of Southern Stone Indoor Climbing.
"We're just gonna press on with business as usual and try not to let this affect us in any way. We're out money but at least nobody got hurt and that's the main thing is that everybody's still safe and sound and we're just not gonna lat this affect us as much as we can," Matt said.
Matt said the business's alarm went off, but he and police initially thought that was caused by the storm. While he was checking, he saw a puddle of water on the floor near the maintenance door, and then found that his register and a lock box were missing.
The thieves apparently unscrewed some sheet metal panels and used tin snips to cut a door into the side of the building, he said.
Despite the issues caused by the break-in, the gym was open for climbers today.
If anyone has any information about the break-in, they're asked to call Lafayette Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.
