Acadiana hospitals continue to take steps to ensure they don't reach capacity with COVID-19 patients.
LGH officials said yesterday that they had moved the Lafayette General Medical Center pediatric unit to make room for another COVID unit, and they've also begun diverting patients from LGMC and the Acadia campus to other hospitals.
Diverting is not new; it can happen any time a hospital is seeing a high number of patients.
Also at yesterday's briefing officials said they're postponing surgeries, and they're asking people who don't really need hospital care to see their doctor or an acute care facility before coming to the hospital.
