LAFAYETTE, La. — A local group is giving back to the homeless community in Lafayette by providing them with much needed essentials.
The group Young and Unproven made 75 bags to give out to homeless residents on Wednesday. Each one is filled with hygiene essentials including a soap, deodorant, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a razor, shaving cream, and 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner.
They began their giveaway at the Salvation Army location on 6th Street in Lafayette at 11:00 a.m.
Organizers say the event is one way they work to show light to their generation.
"To be an example for the young and current generation," said Young and Unproven founder Kenneth Nelson. "Instead of looking for the light in the dark tunnel, become the light and lead the way."
