Two vacant homes on Carmel Drive received minor damage on Tuesday following early morning fires.

The department says that firefighters responded to a fire on November 24 at one of the three vacant homes located on a property in the 1100 block of Carmel Drive.

Firefighters say the fire was extinguished within ten minutes. The home sustained minor damage to its exterior.

While on scene, firefighters say they inspected another unsecured home and discovered a small fire inside as well. That fire was also quickly extinguished.

Fire investigators have determined that both fires were intentionally set.

The department says that both rental properties had been vacant for approximately two weeks.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS or the Lafayette Fire Department at 291-8716.
