LCG provided an update to the parish's response to COVID-19 in a daily press briefing on Thursday.

As of noon on April 2, the Louisiana Department of Health reported 2,726 additional cases since Wednesday, bringing the total to 9,150 positive cases of COVID-19. So far, 310 people have died.

During the conference, Mayor-President Josh Guillory announced that Love Our Community donated masks to the City, an update on LUS, and meals available for those in need.

"Thank you to everyone across our community who is donating personal protective equipment to support our healthcare providers," said Guillory. "We're receiving donations from across industry, from oil company and the healthcare sectors. Just today, we received a donation of masks from Love Our Community. I want to thank this organization for their kind generosity."

Anyone with personal protective equipment (PPE) can donate them at the Cajundome screening site between 8:30 am and 10:30 am or at a drop box at City Hall during business hours.

On Thursday, LCG reported that 76 people were tested and 13 people were screened out at the Cajundome screening and testing site. To date, 1,025 have been screened. Hours of operations for Friday will be 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

So far, LCG has spent an estimated $30,000 to $40,000 on fighting the cornavirus with most of the funding going toward personal protective equipment.
