LAFAYETTE, La. - Republic Services will not collect residential garbage or recycling in Lafayette Parish on Thanksgiving Day.
Collection will be provided the following day.
Waste for Thursday customers will be picked up on Friday, and those whose regular collection falls on Friday will be picked up on Saturday.
Customers who generate more garbage than usual over the holiday can put excess waste at the curb outside their carts. Waste must be bagged, should not exceed 35 pounds, and be placed three feet away from waste and recycling carts.
Next week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday customers can place bagged excess trash outside the cart for pickup.
The Lafayette Consolidated Government Compost Facility will be closed on Thanksgiving day, Friday and Saturday and will reopen on Monday, December 2 at 7 a.m.
