LCG employees received nearly $1M in unearned severance pay since 2009

LAFAYETTE, La. - Over the past decade, more than $900,000 in unearned severance pay was given to hundreds of retiring Lafayette Consolidated Government employees, according to The Advocate.

The Louisiana Constitution prohibits government agencies from donating "things of value, funds, property or credit.

Louisiana Attorney General's Office opinions say it is a violation of the state constitution.
