LAFAYETTE, La. — The Lafayette Consolidated Government announced on Friday that it will hold its regular council meetings on April 21.

With the enactment of the Governor's “Stay at Home” Executive Order and as a reminder, the April 7th Council meetings are canceled, LCG said in a release.

City officials say the applicable agenda items from these meetings will be rescheduled for the regular meeting date of April 21.

According to LCG, council members and staff are confirming options for public comment during the council meetings, in light of the Stay at Home Order and to ensure compliance with requirements set forth in the Executive order. The council meeting schedule for April is as follows:

  • April 7 – All Council meetings canceled
  • April 21 – 5 p.m. – Parish Council Meeting and 6 p.m. – City Council Meeting

LCG states that there will no Joint Meeting on April 21, and items needing approval by both councils will be placed on the individual meeting agendas.

Officials say consideration was given to changing the April meetings to April 14 and April 28, however, no meetings will be scheduled on those dates.

With the uncertainty on whether the Executive Order will be further extended, please be patient as we try to navigate public meetings and conduct government business under these unfortunate circumstances, the release states. The community as a whole is asked to do their part to flatten the curve and minimize the spread of the virus.
