UPDATE: The Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office says that the three teen reported missing Wednesday were located safely in Lafayette Parish.

Law enforcement in St. Landry Parish were also involved in the search. The girls were considered runaways.

According to Lafayette Parish law enforcement, one of the girls left her home in Lafayette Parish sometime during the night of Tuesday February 16, or the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 17, 2021. She was found to be two other girls who were both reported missing from St. Landry Parish.

The Lafayette Sheriff's Office mentioned that they believed the girls may have altered their appearances by cutting or coloring their hair.

In their release, the sheriff's office said that information shared on social media suggesting the girls were kidnapped was not accurate. KATC requested more information asking if the girls were with anyone, as some on social media suggested. Deputies say the girls were not accompanied by anyone.

No one was arrested and no charges were filed in this missing persons case, LPSO says. No other information was provided.
