The Lafayette Police Department will conduct and OWI checkpoint within the incorporated limits of Lafayette on Friday, September 27.
The checkpoint will take place somewhere in the city limits from 9:00 pm to 3:00 am.
Lafayette Police say the purpose of the checkpoint is to target impaired drivers under the influence of alcohol or any other dangerous substance.
Officers will respond with zero tolerance to drivers found to be under the influence.
Drivers are asked to designate a driver if they intend to drink. Police say that not doing so could result in costly fines and serious jail time.
