LAFAYETTE, La. — The Lafayette Police Department are searching for a suspect after responding to a shooting Thursday in the 200 block of Rue Royale Street.

LPD states that officers responded to a disturbance on Rue Royale Street at approximately 6 p.m. and located one victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his lower torso.

LPD says that officers and Acadian Ambulance personnel conducted first aid measures, and the victim was treated at the scene for a minor injury. He was not transported to a local hospital.

LPD says the investigation revealed that there was a verbal altercation between the victim and suspect. The suspect then produced a handgun shortly thereafter, and shot the victim.
