Update: Victim identified in Edison Street shooting

LAFAYETTE — Update: Lafayette Police have identified the victim in Wednesday afternoon's shooting on Edison Street as 20-year-old Tiage Montrell Hudson of Lafayette.

LPD Spokesperson Cpl. Bridgette Dugas said that police responded to the 600 block of Edison Street at 4:40 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in response to shots fired near a residence.

Hudson was found on scene, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced deceased on scene.

At this time, no arrests have been made. Police are looking for a white SUV as a potential vehicle of interest.

The investigation is ongoing. Police ask anyone with information to call Lafayette Police or Crime Stoppers at 232-TIPS.

ORIGINAL STORY: One person is dead following a shooting on Edison Street.

Police have the scene roped off several blocks of the roadway at this time. They say they arrived on the scene around 4:40 p.m. following a shots fired call and found a man dead from multiple gunshot wounds in a yard.

The shooting occurred near the area behind St. Anthony Church near Celeste Street in the 600 block of Edison Street.

Police say they do not have any information on a suspect(s) at this time. Police say they are looking for a white SUV that witnesses say they saw fleeing the area following the shooting.
