Lafayette Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Thursday afternoon on Rim Road.
Officers responded at 2:30 p.m. to a disturbance involving a firearm in the 600 block of Rim Road, and once on scene they found one victim suffering from a gunshot injury to the upper torso.
First responders began to administer first aid measures and those efforts were taken over by Acadian Ambulance shortly after. The victim was transported to a local hospital with a non-life threatening injury.
A suspect, identified as 20-year-old Lane Domec of Lafayette, was taken into custody and transported to the Lafayette Police Department where he was interviewed. After the interview, the suspect was charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder.
The suspect was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on the above charge. The investigation is ongoing.
