Lafayette Police are investigating a burglary overnight on Doucet Road.

The police department says that officers responded to the 200 Block of Doucet Road in reference to an aggravated burglary call. The victim told officers that she returned home around midnight and went inside her apartment, leaving her front door partially ajar with intentions to leave shortly.

When she returned to the front door, the victim said a large unknown man was standing in the doorway of her apartment. Police say the suspect was wearing a mask and knit style hat (two separate pieces), dark T-shirt, dark colored shorts and dark gloves.

The man was believed to be holding a black semi-auto handgun and demanded the victim’s wallet and money. Police say the suspect forced the victim back into her apartment at gunpoint, but left the scene without taking anything.

Officers say they canvassed the immediate area and surrounding neighborhood for the suspect, but he was not located.

The investigation is ongoing.
