A Lafayette pastor is asking for the community's help in hosting a Christmas event for the homeless.

Pastor Lawrence Levy says he and other volunteers with Freedom World Ministries and are trying to feed about 200 people who are homeless everyday.

He's asking for donations of clothes, toiletries, and money. It costs about $7 a day to feed one person, Pastor Levy explains, but says he's asking for donations of any sort that are worthy to be given away.

Levy wants those in need to know that they are loved and supported, and says it's important to know that those in need are still human beings He adds that with the cold weather this week, he wants people to remember that there are some out there without a warm home or bed.

Donations can be dropped off at 212 Delord Street in Lafayette. They will be handed out by volunteers on Saturday, December 19.
