A man indicted last summer in connection with a July 2019 shooting has been arrested.
Deontre Batiste, 24, was in the Calcasieu Parish jail and has been transfered to the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center, records show.
Batiste was arrested soon after the shooting death of John Cedric Willis. The shooting happened on July 4 on Lilly Street. Four others also have been arrested in the case.
A grand jury indicted Batiste on a charge of second-degree murder last summer.
