Lafayette's Household Hazardous Waste Day will get underway on Saturday, December 14 at Cajun Field from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm.
Residents of Lafayette and unincorporated areas of the parish are encouraged to bring unwanted household chemicals and electronics for recycling or disposal.
Along with common chemicals such as paint, poison, chemical cleaners, gasoline and mercury, residents will also be able to drop off specific electronic waste items. Electronic waste recycling and disposal is sponsored by CGI and Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council (CACRC).
Fluorescent tubes and alkaline batteries will also be accepted.
A full list of items accepted can be found here.
Unwanted latex paint dropped off tomorrow will be re-blended and packaged for use by Lafayette Habitat for Humanity.
LCG says HHWD is offered at no additional cost to those living in Lafayette or the parish. Residents are asked to take advantage of the event in order to properly dispose of hazardous household materials.
Attendees should enter the Cajun Field parking lot at Gate 4 from West Congress.
