Lafayette General Health announced Thursday that they will be returning to Total Visitor Restrictions in response to the increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations.

LGH says that families are encouraged to use other means of communication with patients including FaceTime, Skype or by phones located in patient rooms.

No visitors will be allowed beginning Thursday, July 2 at 8:00 pm.

Exceptions to the no visitor policy include the following:

  • Laboring Moms - ONE Spouse or Partner (No birthing coaches unless selected as your one partner.)
  • Pediatrics/NICU - TWO Parents or Guardians
  • End-of-Life Patients - Spouse/Partner/Adult Child
  • Surgery - One visitor pre- and post-surgery until 8 p.m.
  • Patients with cognitive, physical or mobility impairments - ONE visitor

LGH says that all visitors must be asymptomatic and wear a mask at all times.

No visitors will be allowed for urgent care, emergency room or clinic visits unless patients need assistance or are minors.

COVID-19 patients will not be allowed visitors unless they are at the end of life, according to LGH.

The following procedures will be followed for visitors:

Patients will provide the name of their one essential visitors. Visitors must be screened for symptoms at facility entry/access points. If they are symptomatic, they will be turned away. All essential visitors will be required to wear masks throughout the building. To conserve supplies, we are encouraging visitors to bring a mask from home. If they do not have one, a mask will be issued.

Surgery visitors are encouraged to wait in social distance areas and not congregate in the waiting rooms. Visitor will be asked to return home if symptoms of respiratory infection (fever, runny nose, cough, shortness of breath) occur.

LGH says they are continuing to monitor the COVID-19 risk and will adjust visitor restrictions as necessary.
