LCG tells us that applications to the Lafayette Emergency Assistance Program has closed.

Yesterday, we posted a story about applications still being open - because LCG had posted that on their Facebook page last week. Today, they tell us there was a communication breakdown and the applications actually are closed.

There is a limited amount of funding remaining in the last allocation and nearly 300 open cases are currently being processed, LCG officials say.

According to Community Development and Planning Director Mary Sliman, as of May 19 the program had disbursed $24.6 million, with another $1 million to be processed.

The program has ended, but those 300 applications are still being processed.

The program was available to assist qualified low- and moderate-income households with paying rent and overdue rent as well as current and overdue utility payments.

In addition to the $21 million in federal Emergency Rental Assistance received, Lafayette Consolidated Government (LCG) has since been granted an additional $4.8 million.
