Loved ones are remembering Anna Botley, a Lafayette Parish educator who died this week after being diagnosed with COVID-19.

Botley's family confirmed with our media partners at The Advocate that Botley, 61, died in a local hospital Sunday, January 10.

The Villle Platte native worked for Lafayette Parish Schools for 24 years as a bus attendant, substitute teacher, and teacher's assistant. She most recently worked at Ossun Elementary.

A viewing and funeral service for Botley are set for January 16 at 10 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Ville Platte, The Advocate reports.

Lafayette Parish Association of Educators remembered Botley in a Facebook post Tuesday, saying she, "Worked with some of our most vulnerable students and her impact will live on."
