The Lafayette City and Parish Councils will have their meetings tonight, and the public can attend - with caveats.

All members of the public are encouraged to watch the meeting remotely instead of going in person, but if you feel you need to be there you will have to follow a protocol for entrance.

You will need to appear at least 30 minutes prior to the start of the meeting so you can be screened by health officials. Anyone with a temperature more than 100.4 degrees or any symptoms will not be allowed. Instead of the main entrance, the public is requested to go to the University Avenue side of the auditorium for screening. Seating in the auditorium has been limited to maintain social distancing and to comply with public health orders.

If you want to participate from home, that's easy to do.

First, you can watch the meeting here. You can see the agendas here. Just pick the date, and you will see an index of agendas and items to click. If you click on the links, you can see attachments and documents.

If you want to make a comment on an agenda item, you can email it to CouncilComments@LafayetteLA.gov BEFORE the meetings. Send them prior to 5 p.m. and put the agenda item number or ordinance number or the issue in your subject line. If you prefer to call the office prior to the meeting, to note your support or objection to an item, please call (337) 291-8800 prior to 5:00 pm.
