Lafayette City Marshal-elect Reggie Thomas appoints transition team

LAFAYETTE, La. — Lafayette City Marshal-Elect Reginald “Reggie” Thomas announced Tuesday that he has finalized the selection of the members of his transition team, which is tasked with providing advice and counsel to Thomas as he appoints key positions and prepares to assume office on Jan. 1, 2021.

According to a release, Thomas says he plans to immediately begin working towards the accreditation of the marshal’s office, improving community relations, as well as improving marshal training and resource management.

In order to assure a successful transition, the release states, he established a team of professionals who understand and share his vision, mission and goals for the Lafayette Marshal’s Office.

The four-member includes:

  • Gerald Boudreaux, Louisiana State Senator
  • Mike Neustrom, Lafayette Parish Sheriff, Retired
  • Dr. Holly Howat, Founder and Executive Director of Beacon Community Connections
  • Phil Conrad, Chief Deputy Marshal, Lafayette City Marshal Office, retired

Thomas will be sworn in before the end of the year and will be inaugurated on Jan. 8, 2021 at the Heyman Performing Arts Center in Lafayette.
