New Life Church of God in Lafayette is opening its doors to evacuees of Hurricane Laura.
The pastor of the church says they are seeing plenty of people trying to get away from the destruction.
He believes his role is to help the community, but also those who are evacuating.
"I believe that this position that I hold as a pastor is more than just preaching on a Sunday or a Wednesday. It is to make sure that I can be there in time of need
for the community and people abroad, so that's why I'm here today," said Pastor Lawrence Levy III.
