Lafayette Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a bicycle near the intersection of Ambassador Caffery Parkway and Eraste Landry Road Friday night.
Officers responded around 10:15 p.m. to a traffic crash and located one victim deceased from injuries sustained in the crash.
Police say the deceased driver, identified as John Fontenot, 33, of Lafayette, was traveling on his bicycle near the intersection. He attempted to make a left turn in front of a second vehicle, which was traveling in the opposite direction, and was struck by the vehicle.
Medical assistance was provided to the other driver involved in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
