Louisiana State Police and Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force checked car seats statewide Saturday for National Child Passenger Safety Week.

Troopers were on-hand around the state to check car seats and teach parents and caregivers the correct way to use and install the child safety seat.

This service is free to the public. All events began at 9 am-12 noon.

Parents were able to "come and get the seats checked for free, so we can make sure they meet with certified technicians. The technicians teach them how to install the safety seats in their vehicle so they can leave knowing how to do it; they can be confident that their child is properly restrained no matter what vehicle they are in," explained technician Jerri Bryd Hodges.

If you missed the events on Saturday, car seat checks are conducted by troopers at each troop location statewide. To find out when, visit lsp.org/troops, click the troop in your area, then scroll to the bottom for more information.
