Lafayette's Krewe of Xanadu has decided to postpone its 2021 Mardi Gras ball due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The ball will now take place on Friday, February 25, 2022.

"The health and safety of our members is very important to us," says Stephanie Fakier, Krewe of Xanadu Board President. "The decision to postpone our XXXI Ball was a difficult one for the Board of Directors, but we didn't feel we could give our members the Ball they expect and deserve with the anticipated social distancing restrictions due to this ongoing health crisis. Our XXXI Ball in 2022 will be our best yet!"

The ladies of Xanadu plan on riding in the 2021 Queen's Parade next February despite the ball being pushed to the following year.

The Krewe of Xanadu women's krewe was established in Lafayette in 1990.
