Krewe of Rio moving forward with 2021 Mardi Gras ball plans

LAFAYETTE, La. — The Krewe of Carnivale en Rio is moving forward with plans for its Mardi Gras ball on Jan. 9 2021.

According to a release, a Rio spokesperson says that the Krewe of Rio will follow any mandates in place at the time of the ball, and as of now, they are proceeding with thier plans in hopes that they will not encounter any major prohibitive measures come January.

The krewe says its board is working diligently to move forward with the best Mardi Gras experience under such extraordinary circumstances, with its members and the Acadiana community at the forefront of all of our decisions.

The krewe adds that it will keep its members and the community informed each step of the way.

The Krewe of Apollo announced on Thursday that it has postponed its Bal Masque XLV from Jan. 30, 2021 to Feb. 12, 2022, citing fears of a resurgence of the coronavirus pandemic this winter.
