Kids and kittens got together today for a Kitty Litter-a-Ture event at Acadiana Animal Aid.
The program invites kids of all ages to read to the cats at the no-kill shelter in Carencro. The process builds confidence among the young readers, and helps socialize the cats.
"It helps socialize our cats, and get them used to being around people, which helps make them more adoptable," said MIchelle Hulse, a volunteer at the shelter. "It helps them relax and adjust to life in the shelter better, and it helps the kids practice their reading skills in a relaxed environment also."
