Kabuki Dancers showcase hip hop history in Black History Month performance tour

The group known for traveling around Acadiana and educating children on various topics through performance is continuing their History of Hip Hop tour of Acadiana.

Kabuki Dancers were at West Side Elementary in Scott and Alice N Boucher School in Lafayette to perform "The Breakdown: A Lesson in Hip-Hop History. Earlier this week, the group was at Opelousas Junior High and Grolee Elementary, where they premiered their program.

The dancer's previous programs have included topics such as bullying and gun violence awareness.

According to Kabuki Dancers, their current program focused on the history of Hip-Hop and the important figures that pioneered the culture. There was discussion, demonstrations, and a dance workshop where the audience were able to join in on the lesson.

Thursday was the final day of the tour which was sponsored by the Acadiana Center for the Arts.
