LAFAYETTE, La. - Jeanette Picard, the wife of former Lafayette City Marshal Earl "Nicky" Picard, died Tuesday night.

She had been battling cancer, stated Nicky in a post.

The couple had renewed their vows in April at St. Genevieve Church where they were married on April 3, 1949.

They’ve made Lafayette their home, the place they’ve raised three children, two grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

The Picards said in an interview to KATC in April that they’ve learned to love without limits, and they hope to see young generations fall and stay in love forever.
