Lafayette Police are following leads and seeking information on theft and damage at Kart Ranch in Lafayette.
Police say they were made aware of the incident involving criminal damage to property which occurred on Wednesday night.
Owner of Kart Ranch Kristyn Roche says that the damage was to a 10 foot by 10 foot crane game. An image of the crane game from the Kart Ranch's Facebook page can be seen below:
"A man decided to violently vandalize one of our arcade games and steal numerous ticket rolls from it. He was accompanied by a group of adults, teens and children," a post on Facebook reads.
Roche says that the doors of the game were jammed open which allowed the people involved to take the ticket rolls inside the machine. She says that three children were allowed inside the machine to take the rolls.
"Not only was this game damaged to the point of being unplayable and will require expensive repairs, but three children in their group not only witnessed this reprehensible act but were part of the theft. The teens and adults were literally clapping and cheering them on," the post continues.
Roche says what disturbed her the most is that the adults were using the children do this and they were cheering them on in the process
" we can't say how completely disgusted we are by these actions and that it was being demonstrated as an example of acceptable behavior to young CHILDREN. When is it EVER ok to damage other people's property and steal from them?" the post reads.
They do plan to press charges once the person has been identified.
Lafayette Police are following up on leads and attempting to identify the suspect.
