Police have released the identity of the victim killed in a fatal shooting that happened over the weekend in Lafayette.
Police found Telvis Benjamin, 26, suffering from a single gunshot wound around 11 p.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Joan Street.
He was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injury.
The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
The investigation is ongoing.
