I-49 North is closed before Gloria Switch Road (LA 98) because of a crash.
Lafayette Police are responding to the scene of the crash and say that the shutdown of the roadway will continue for some time. No time frame was given.
The crash involves an overturned 18-wheeler and another vehicle. Officials say that a crane is needed to remove the wreck. The vehicle appears to have lost some wheels in the incident.
No major injuries were reported according to Corporal Bridgette Dugas, a spokesperson for the Lafayette Police Department.
Police say that East Pont Des Mouton will be the detour exit for motorists along the roadway.
