Lafayette Utilities System says that a helicopter will begin transmission line inspection on Monday, August 3.
The company says that the inspections will last throughout the week as weather permits.
The aerial survey will cover 40 miles of high-voltage transmission lines around the city of Lafayette.
LUS says that a Bell 206L helicopter will fly approximately 500 feet above the transmission lines at slow speeds to capture images.
Aerial survey allows LUS to inspect the system in a more efficient manner with a bird’s-eye view of the lines, according to LUS.
The company says that local authorities have been notified of the aerial survey.
Inspections were delayed from last week due to inclement weather.
