Harvey the Rabbit visited the West Regional Library today.

Every time Harvey and his puppet friends make it by the library, the show is always well attended, said Kathy Mulloy, director of programming for the Lafayette Public Library System.

"It's always our biggest turnout," Mulloy said. "It's a big show, we have 100 or 200 people at every show."

The show features puppets and magic and music, and since Harvey makes visits to area schools during the year, he's well known to the children of Lafayette Parish, she said.

The show is part of the library's summer reading program, Mulloy said.

"We try to get kids to read books over the summer so they don't lose their reading skills over the summer, and they're ready for the school year to start back up," Mulloy said.

If you missed this show, and want to see Harvey, he'll be at the Main Library on Thursday at 10 a.m., Mulloy siad.

The summer reading program ends Wednesday; there are prizes for adults, teens and children in the program.
