Members of the Lafayette community came together Saturday to help out those in need.
Imani Temple and the Lafayette NAACP distributed masks and coats to those who are homeless in the city.
Donations of gently used coats and sweaters were accepted from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at the Imani Temple on West Willow Street.
There also was a gumbo and mask giveaway for the homeless in the area during the donation drive. That giveaway began at noon at the Imani Temple.
Organizers say similar giveaways are held throughout the year.
"We do this all year long and we're going to continue to do this. Our organization, we have very good brothers and sisters that comprise this organization," explained Olugbenga Shomade, grand master of the Imani Temple. "They believe in what we do, so we're going to continue to do that for our community."
