A group of protesters made their way around the city of Lafayette on Saturday. They started at the Mouton statue, then went to Martin Hall, and then to City Hall. They chanted about getting justice for Treyford Pellerin. Police were on scene, but they said it was a peaceful protest and officers were just following the protesters from a distance to make sure everyone stayed safe.
"I did see a few members of the Black Panther party and the Boogaloo Boys came from upstate as well to join in for protective services," said Dwayne Jenkins. "The death threats have been crazy and we heard rumors of the Bayou Boys militia coming, so we're here to make sure nothing was going to happen."
Pellerin died following an officer involved shooting in Lafayette on August 21, 2020. More information on the shooting can be found HERE.
