THURSDAY JULY 9

On Thursday, July 9, students at Northside High were the first to accept their diplomas.

"This pain could have made us bitter or better," said one Northside graduate. "And the challenges we faced were designed to make us or break us. But ultimately our choice was to become victors and not victims. And that's why we're here today."

Acadiana High seniors held their ceremony on Thursday night at 6:00 pm.

Acadiana High graduates shared in the enthusiam, saying, "Go ahead, go class of 2020! Congrats to all the other schools that are graduating. We did this and we all got through this together. It sucks, but we did it. Class of 2020, strong and proud."

Ceremonies were moved to Cajun Field after LPSS learned that the ceremonies scheduled to take place at the Cajundome had not been approved by the state.

The decision for ceremonies at Cajun Field was made at a special board meeting on Tuesday.

LPSS says the same security measures such as wearing masks and keeping socially distant will remain in effect. After you sit, you will be able to take off your mask, but if you get up, the mask must go back on.

No concessions will be sold, but water will be available for purchase.

Guests will be escorted to seats (first come, first serve) using two separate entrances; graduates will have their own entrance.
