Veterans graduating with the Class of 2020 at UL Lafayette received their veteran cords at the 7th Annual Cording Ceremony Thursday.

The ceremony took place at the University's Alumni Center on campus. Both active duty and veteran students participated in the ceremony.

Organizers say the ceremony is a small token of appreciation for the veterans' service to our country and to the University.

"We hope that the student graduates that leave the university know that we've done everything that we can possibly do to support them," explained Ryan Gonzales, Assistant Director of UL Lafayette Veteran Services. "To appreciate them during their time here no matter how long, whether it's in two years or four years."

The tradition was started in Fall 2020 by Director of Veteran Services Sammi Conner.
