On Wednesday, November 18, Louisiana National Guardsmen are continuing their deployment ceremonies in Lafayette.
Gov. John Bel Edwards will speak at the 256th Infantry Brigade Combat Team Departure Ceremony.
Approximately 2,000 guardsmen are scheduled to deploy to the Middle East in support of U.S. Central Command operations. Units are located throughout the state in areas of Shreveport, Natchitoches, Alexandria, Lake Charles, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans.
The ceremony will be held at 9:00 am and be live streamed on KATC.com and the KATC Facebook Page.
Including premobilization training at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas, the National Guard says that soldiers will be away from home for nearly one year.
A deployment ceremony was held on Saturday, November 14 in Lafayette for LANG's 2-156th Infantry Regiment.
Other ceremonies and farewell events have been held throughout the state.
