Residents at a Lafayette assisted living facility are already enjoying some holiday festivities.

Staff at Garden View Assisted Living held a Mock Macy's Day walking parade on Friday.

The small walking parade was put on by local home health and hospice teams who dressed up, held balloons and waved as they entertained the residents. For one special 'float,' participants pulled a fully decorated Christmas tree.

Also featured in the parade - in keeping with tradition - was Santa Claus, who made his arrival in Lafayette and marked the beginning of the holiday season, at least for the residents.

Organizers say they hope the event illustrates to residents at Garden View how special they are.

"By us participating, the residents know how much we love and appreciate them, and I hope our employees see what a valuable part we are to our community. When we all support one another great things happen," one organizer commented.
