Lafayette Regional Airport says that Frontier Airlines has suspended services from Lafayette indefinitely.

According to a press release, LFT Executive Director Steven Picou was told by Frontier that the demand for the airline's services was insufficient to continue at the airport.

Frontier announced last year that they would resume seasonal service at LFT beginning in Spring 2020 after seasonally suspending flights in November.

LFT says that in 2019, Frontier had 40,682 passengers at the airport and provided direct service to Orlando and Denver.

In an email to Picou, Frontier says that they will continue to monitor opportunities going forward, according to the release.

“We appreciate the service Frontier provided,” Picou said in a release. “While it is disappointing to hear of this decision, it is not uncommon in the airline industry. It is a very dynamic model, and airlines do what makes the best business sense for them. We will continue to explore new opportunities with other airlines and seek more direct destinations on existing airlines.”
