A six-week flag football course wrapped up today at Edgar Martin Middle School.
Kids have been participating in the program, offered by the Louisiana Association of Sports, Outdoor Adventure and Recreation, since January.
The teams were co-ed by age. The program focused on skill development with a 30-minute practice followed by a 30-minute scrimmage every Sunday afternoon.
"It gets the kids out of their neighborhoods into a place where they can learn fundamental skills from professionals or coaches or
volunteers. We have a mix of people out here, so it's just an easy way for them to get out and actually learn some skill and put it into practice in the game after," said Adrienne David, site director.
The program was open to kids ages 5 through 14. For more information on the group and their other programs for kids, click here.
