Lafayette General Surgical Hospital hosted a Pink a Boo Breast Cancer Health Fair today.

The hospital hopes to make the health fair an annual event from now on. Attendees were able to get education and information about breast health and breast cancer at the event.

"Getting people together, felllowshipping, giving education, bringing awareness to breast disease and breast cancer. That's the biggest thing," said Dr. Shaunda Grisby. "'I'm excited for the turnout, and for everybody who showed up today."

Grisby is a general surgeon and fellowship-trained in breast surgical oncology with advanced skills in the treatment of breast cancer, benign breast-related diseases, and management of individuals at high risk for development of breast cancer. She is a highly trained surgeon in cutting-edge surgical techniques such as oncoplastic breast-conserving surgery, nipple-sparing mastectomy, and skin-sparing mastectomy.

She is actively involved in research studies on breast cancer and community outreach programs spreading awareness for breast cancer.
