Lafayette's new city and parish councils will meet next week to appoint a new city attorney and create new departments.
On the agendas - a city council agenda, a parish council agenda and a joint councils agenda - is a resolution that would approve the appointment of Lafayette attorney Gregory J. Logan as city attorney.
Also on the agendas is a proposal that would create two new departments, one for drainage and one for streets and bridges. Currently, those duties are part of the Public Works Department. Each of the new department heads would report directly to the Mayor-President.

Lafayette Parish Council Regular Meeting on January 7, 2020 (5:00 pm);
Lafayette City Council & Lafayette Parish Council Special Joint Meeting on January 7, 2020 (*5:00 immediately following the Regular Meeting of the Lafayette Parish Council);
Lafayette City Council Regular Meeting on January 7, 2020 (6:30 pm).
