Firefighters in Scott are working Wednesday morning to contain a gas leak near Apollo Road.

Scott Fire Chief Chad Sonnier says that while working on a 22-inch gas line in the Scott area there was an accidental release.

The incident happened around Apollo Road near the KOA campground.

Sonnier says that the leak is under control and should be contained within 30 minutes.

Residents are asked to avoid the area.

The Carencro Fire Department says that due to the natural gas line rupture in Scott, Florida Gas Company was forced to shut off a main valve at the intersection of North University and Ira Street in Carencro.

The residual gas is being released on Ira Street. The department says the release should take about 30 minutes.
