A Lafayette financial firm has exceeded its goal by more than $10,000 to provide assistance to Second Harvest Food Bank of Acadiana.
Summit Financial Wealth Advisors announced that their dollar-for-dollar effort raised $35,727.72.
The funds will go to assist Second Harvest with their continued efforts to provide services to South Louisiana as it recovers from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
"Summit is extremely proud to be supporting the food bank and help our local communities during this time of economic and social recovery," said Todd Lambert, a partner at Summit Financial, in a press release. "We are humbled by the incredible support of all who contributed to this initiative, and offer our greatest thanks and appreciation in return."
According to Second Harvest Regional Director John Dziurgot, "Even as our state and businesses slowly reopen, Second Harvest is continuing to respond to an overwhelming need for meals and groceries throughout South Louisiana. Summit Financial's donation will greatly increase our ability to meet those needs as Acadiana continues to be impacted by this unprecedented event."
Summit says that every dollar donated to the food bank can support up to four meals for those in need.
The money raised will stay in the southern region of Louisiana to directly benefit the surrounding communities.
