Escort of wide load moving through Lafayette on Thursday

Drivers can expect delays

An escort through the city of Lafayette may hold up traffic on Thursday, according to State Police

LSP Troop I notified the public of a wide load that will be moving through the city of Lafayette this morning and into the afternoon, Thursday November 5. The route will be LA 182 to Renaud Dr to Ambassador Caffery to Johnston St. to LA 733 ending in Milton.

The move began at 9:00 a.m.

Two troopers are escorting the load, as well as, 17 bucket trucks to lift the electric lines. At intersections with signal lights mounted to fixed pole supports will be traveling into oncoming travel lanes as they traverse the intersection.

Drivers should expect delays and take alternate routes to avoid the slowdown.
