Duson Police Chief Kip Judice has made a statement on the death of George Floyd and the demonstrations that are ongoing in dozens of major cities.
In a post on Judice's Facebook page, he states "Such a disgusting abuse of force. I do applaud those citizens who didn't just walk by and took the time to record and to challenge the obvious injustice by the law enforcement officer."
He said there is no room for the level of incompetence in the law enforcement profession and lists his commitments as police chief.
He closes by saying "I still don't know if this is enough, but it's a start, a way to show that I not only recognize a failure but offer some methods of change to prevent this from occurring."
Floyd was arrested earlier this week by police officers in Minneapolis. Video shows Floyd on the ground, with one officer's knee on his neck. That officer, Derek Chauvin, has been arrested and is facing charges of third degree murder and manslaughter. Three other officers are under investigation.
