Downtown Alive ready to try again with first virtual concert series performance

Posted at 11:17 AM, Sep 24, 2020

After technical troubles disrupted last week's official kick-off of Downtown Alive, organizers say the music will be ready to stream this Friday.

DTA will host DG & The Freetown Sound on their digital stage on September 25.

The event will be streamed live from the Acadiana Center for the Arts in Downtown Lafayette.

Last Friday's concert featuring Curley Taylor and the Zydeco Trouble was postponed. A new date has not been determined.

Each week, virtual performances will begin at 6:00 pm on the Downtown Alive! Facebook page.

"We're really going to kick off Downtown Alive this Friday, September 25. It's a virtual season, it's a little different than what we've done in the past. We want to keep everyone safe," explained Maureen Dugas Foster with Downtown Lafayette Unlimited. "So this Friday we're going to be streaming live from ACA. We've got DG and the Freetown Sound, some funky soul. It's gonna be a lot of fun."
